Grade-specific Titles
for Intermediate Grades

All grade-specific titles consist of three books, each containing 40+ hours of differentiated curriculum. The books in each series focus on the academic standards for that grade level, and allow students to delve more deeply into each subject area. We offer both grade-specific and multiage curricula for intermediate students.

Fourth Grade—Systems

What would happen if we had automobiles, but no roads? Light bulbs, but no electricity? Our world functions smoothly when systems are in place. Transportation, health care, and education are all organized into systems we depend upon daily. Students will discover the importance of systems and the consequences when one part of a system is removed or does not function properly. Ecosystems to monetary systems, and settlement are examined as students research to build upon prior knowledge to predict future trends in technology, education, and economics. Once students appreciate the value of systems in their lives today, they will begin creating the innovative systems of the future.

Each book contains the following subtopics:
Systems Book 1: Exploration, Culture, and Ecology
Systems Book 2: Settlement, Currency, and Measurement
Systems Book 3: Economics, Climate, and Comparisons

Fifth Grade—Structures

The Earth is a solid structure on which we live, but it is not unchanging. Forces inside Earth constantly change both the inside and outside of the planet we call home. When students consider the concept, structures, they will discover that the word has many meanings; physical, symbolic, etc. The fabric of community, cultures, and economics will be researched and their affects on the structure of society examined. Students will consider structures in literature, architecture, and art. Through the study of structures, students will learn to appreciate the infinite ways in which the construction of new knowledge can occur.

Each book contains the following subtopics:
Structures Book 1: Geology, Expansion, and the Arts
Structures Book 2: Cultures, Geometry, and Energy
Structures Book 3: Government, Cycles, and Physics
